Accessibility
What's built in, and what we haven't tested yet.
Built in
- WCAG 2.2 Level AA is the target.
- A skip link, full keyboard use, and a visible focus outline everywhere.
- Every text colour measured against its background. The lowest contrast on the site is 5.7 to 1.
- Tables have proper row and column headers, a caption, and scroll sideways on small screens.
- Every calculator field has a real label. Results are announced to screen readers when they change, and there's a Calculate button for anyone who prefers one.
- The programs filter is a row of real buttons that say whether they're pressed, and it announces how many programs are showing. Without JavaScript, every program simply shows.
- Links that open a new tab say so.
- Verdicts and labels are always written out. Colour only backs up the words.
Not tested yet
Nobody who uses a screen reader every day has tested the site yet, including the calculator and the filter.
